General responsibilities for all board members
Racially Just Utah has been working in the community since 2013. Our mission is to ensure racial equity in Utah through policy, accountability, and education. We have since organized multiple symposiums, conferences, contributed to reports, hosted interns, conducted numerous trainings and more. Racially Just Utah is seeking board members who are:
1) champions of our mission of ensuring racial equity in Utah through policy, accountability, and education
2) excited to grow our organization and fundraise
3) have the time to commit to the needs of this small but powerful organization
4) racially and ethnically diverse
5) have different professional backgrounds, networks, and expertise
6) aware this is an unpaid volunteer position
7) appreciate our intersectional approach to racial justice *meaning we are concerned with the issues of people who are people of color and in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer community, women, the poor, those with mental health issues and more

Responsibilities:
- Board members hold themselves and the organization accountable to relevant law and bylaws.
- Board members should be constructive partners in achieving the organization’s mission.
- Board members share their passion about our mission their network and create opportunities.
- Board members help us fundraise by assisting in planning fundraisers and/or open doors to new donors.
- Board members make personal gifts to the organization.
- Board members serve as ambassadors by attending several of our events and inviting others.
- Board members ask tough questions regarding achieving our mission and achieving our growth goals.
- Board members provide feedback to the executive director in how to achieve our growth goals and achieving our mission.
Specific roles and tasks
Racially Just Utah is Currently Seeking A Treasurer
We are seeking a treasurer with accounting experience, has formal relevant education, and understand compliance regulations for nonprofits.
A treasurer would specifically assist in setting up our accounting system and advise the Executive Director in managing the budget and staying in compliance with relevant 501 c 3 regulations regarding finances and record keeping.

Racially Just Utah is Currently Seeking A Secretary
A secretary would specifically assist in taking notes during board meetings, collecting agenda items for meetings, and maintaining the online drive folders containing agendas and notes.
